ADDITIONAL DENTAL RESOURCES

Because Oregon children have among the worst oral health in the nation due to poverty, lack of access to care, and other social and economic issues, we have assembled the following resources to better assist our community.

1. In the Oregon children suffer more dental pain and infection than children in almost any other state.

2. When children are in dental pain, they are frequently absent from school and have a difficult time staying caught up on homework.

3. Oregon educators estimate that on any given day over 5,000 children are suffering from dental pain or infection.

4. Dental disease isn't just a cosmetic problem. Poor oral health affects overall health. When tooth decay goes untreated, children may face even greater health risks including chronic conditions that contribute to lung disease, stroke, and bacterial pneumonia.
