All Aboard the Tooth Taxi
On The Road Again: A Tooth Taxi Update
by Mary Daly, Program Manager, Tooth Taxi
Update Number 62 | April 08, 2010 | Oregon Dental Convention
The Tooth Taxi joined the ODA’s annual dental conference at the Oregon Convention Center April 8 – 10. Prior to the conference kick-off we had the opportunity to share the Tooth Taxi and its mission with Diane Hall, Executive Director and Marc Kramer, CFO from Bill Healy Foundation. Their visit to the Tooth Taxi was part of their review process for a grant that was submitted by DFO.

The convention is a great time to connect with past Tooth Taxi volunteers and share our program with new volunteers; over 60 dental professionals completed volunteer sign up forms and we hope to see them out on the Tooth Taxi in the next school year! The conference is also a time to recognize volunteers with outstanding service to our mission. DFO board president Dr. Patrick Nearing presented Friends of the Foundation Awards to Tooth Taxi volunteers Dr. Janet Peterson and hygienist Molly Morse. The DFO Dental Champion Award recipient was Dr. Weston W. Heringer Jr., Tooth Taxi pediatric dentist.
Tooth Taxi assistant Stephanie Vogl, volunteer Molly Morse and OEA Choice Trust representative Lisa Mahoney staffed the booth on Friday ushering scores through the Tooth Taxi and answering questions at our table.

our Tooth Taxi ambassadors!
We had a great turnout of visitors over the three days including dental professionals from Idaho, Washington, Montana and Alaska. Some of our Oregon visitors: Volunteer Leslie Jensen & Dr. Mark Jensen, DFO Board member Dr. Mike Goger and Dr. Ken Johnson of the Corvallis Boys & Girls Club Dental Clinic. Dr. Johnson was sporting his toothpaste tie.

Tooth Taxi volunteer Dr. Warren Whitnah from Halfway stopped by and visited with Tooth Taxi assistant Stephanie Vogl.

Although Dr. Heringer received the Dental Champion Award he continued to fill his role as “man of all means”. Preparing the booth for visitors, and showing the generator to visitors from adec.

The convention was also a great venue for sharing our search for Dr. Heringer’s replacement.
The team looks forward to another great conference in 2011!
