On The Road Again: A Tooth Taxi Update

by Mary Daly, Program Manager, Tooth Taxi
Update #3 | 09/22/08 | Sweet Home

Dr. Mike Goger, volunteer dentist, Amy Berg, volunteer dental assistant and Melissa Crook, volunteer dental hygienist combined with staff, Dr. Heringer and Peggy Wallis, all contributed to make it a very productive week! Joan Pappin, nurse for Sweet Home did a stellar job organizing, keeping us fed, informing parents and shuttling kids back and forth.

We had several visitors to the Tooth Taxi - Reporters representing ODA's Membership Matters, the Albany Democrat Herald and the Sweet Home New Era.

  • We received our first cash donation from a parent thankful for our work, $2.00.
  • A young man after being treated was sent back by his father to say "Thank You".
  • Several adults came by seeking treatment for themselves or family members.
A family from Lacomb and from Lebannon as well as the Sweet Home community.
  • And, we continue to learn more about the van and the computer systems with
    each journey!

Service recap and stats:

  • 60 kids screened and fluoride varnish
  • 44 kids received dental services
  • $17,035 free dental treatment provided

Regards, Mary
