#41 Terrebonne
October 22, 2012 By Mary Daly

Terrebonne Community School lives by its name – Community. A wonderful renovated school that invites nature with its multiple birdfeeders, bioswales, and native plantings. Inside the staff was supportive, friendly, caring and proud of their student body. It was such a positive environment and that made our jobs easier. On Friday the Tooth Taxi team was invited to the gym where students gather before class. We were treated to a heartfelt thank you for all the work that had been done. The school leadership team presented us with a wonderful fruit basket and book of thank you notes. This is a caring community.

Volunteers:
Debbie Stumbaugh
Debbie, who manages the MTI dental van out of Bend, joined us to work the portable unit and provided cleanings for many students and delivered classroom presentations on oral hygiene.

Newspaper/Press:
Photographer Tom Boyd of The Oregonian came to shoot photos for the upcoming DFO feature in their Season of Sharing publication.

From the kid gallery:

"I found a root that helps me brush while hunting, it tastes like licorice."

"I'm growing a grown-up tooth."

"I lost two but I'm not going to lose anymore."
(a 2nd grader)

"My sister! She had a tooth that grew back 3 times!!!"

A patient when we gave her sunglasses to put on. "These glasses work really well, they make me see better. I used to wear glasses 'cuz this eye blinked before this one. My mom wears glasses because she's a parent."
