The Tooth Taxi was met with great enthusiasm for its return summer visit to Molalla Elementary. The Summer school head teacher Blane Lazar’s son Ethan was our designated helper for the week and he did an amazing job of escorting patients to and from the Tooth Taxi.
We welcomed back 26 patients who had been on the Tooth Taxi previously and saw a 13% decrease in overall treatment needs from last summer. While there were still kids who needed multiple appointments for restorative work, it did allow us the opportunity to focus on preventive needs as well. We were able to provide 24 cleanings, place 53 sealants and completed treatment on 22 kids.
On Thursday we were happy to have Dr. Teri Barichello onboard. It is always a treat to have an extra set of hands to help provide additional treatment to our patients. The first graders also delivered some great thank you cards. I have really enjoyed going through them and reading all of the great messages they have written. I’ve included some quotes from their cards in the kid’s gallery below.
Dr. Teri Barichello, Vice President, Chief Dental Officer at Moda Health
From the Kid Gallery:
“I’ve gone here before, it’s awesome here”
“My little brother tries to pull my tooth when I’m sleeping” (when we asked about her toothache)
“Dear Tooth Taxi dentist - thank you for making my teeth stronger and thank you for coming and helping all of us and thanks for the kit it really helps me thank you” Shyanne-1st grade
“Thank you for fixing my teeth. I love you tooth people.” Ireland-1st grade
