#7 Gearhart
February 11, 2014 by Mary Daly

Snow in Portland delayed our trip out to Gearhart on the Northern Coast.  The Tooth Taxi made it out Monday afternoon and was ready to roll on Tuesday morning.  Lots of community support for the Tooth Taxi when we parked at Gearhart Elementary in the Seaside school district.  School nurse, Gina Kytr, has hosted us before so she was ready!  Gina lined up several community volunteers to help escort students throughout the week.  Marilyn Partridge, retired teacher and sister to Tooth Taxi assistant Catherine Johnson, was one of those volunteers.

Dr. Kevin Prates and Dr. Tochi Okeke were our staff dentists for the week, both do a great job with the kids interacting with humor and kindness.

Catherine Johnson renowned for her oral hygiene presentations was approached in the hall by teachers who wanted her to present in their classrooms, so she made time for additional presentations at the end of the week.  188 students received our oral health care message!

Brandi Mayhugh, RDH (Brandi's children attend Gearhart) and she donated loads of prophy cups!

From the kid gallery:
Are there any flies in here, because I don't want them to fly in my mouth!

Is my cheek bigger than the other one?
