#12 Myrtle Creek
March 17, 2014 by Mary Daly

Hail and cold temperatures greeted the Tooth Taxi team as they pulled into Tri-City Elementary in Myrtle Creek. Twenty-one patients were students that we saw last year; unfortunately many students still had untreated decay.  This visit gave students the opportunity to continue treatment with Dr. Carneiro, who is great working with the kids. This is another school that Mercy Foundation HKOP screens at and works with us to ensure those students needing treatment know about the Tooth Taxi.  Theme week at the school had kids showing up for appointments with crazy hair, crazy socks and crazy hats. Catherine Johnson reached over 180 students with her classroom presentations.  Catherine reported that students were very well behaved and respectful.  Morning announcements in school:  "The Tooth Taxi is here and you may get to visit them!"

Other notes:
67% of students screened needed treatment
33% needed no treatment.
