#11 Sutherlin
March 10, 2014 by Mary Daly

Dr. Dave Carneiro and his bicycle joined Tooth Taxi staff for a week in Sutherlin. With beautiful weather, and longer light filled days, the team explored the Sutherlin countryside after work – historic covered bridges, waterfalls, rolling hills and livestock.  The Tooth Taxi visited East Primary school last spring and on the return trip this year Dr. Carneiro was able to complete treatment on several of those students. Retired teacher, Charlene Lee, returned to help manage kids on screening day. Principal, Debbie Foley, and Secretary, Michelle Kaneakua, took the team to the local Italian restaurant for dinner.  A great week in Sutherlin!

Kim Ball, Dental services liaison for Mercy Foundation's Healthy Kids Outreach Program (HKOP).  Kim has been instrumental in collaborating with us to identify schools that would benefit from Tooth Taxi services based on the screenings that HKOP performs.  Kim has also worked to include our information on the HKOP consent to make it easier for HKOP to share information with schools about students in need.   Thank you Kim!
