#30 Salem Boys & Girls Club
August 26, 2013 by Mary Daly

Our final summer visit took the Tooth Taxi to Salem to the Boys & Girls Club.  The dental clinic at the Club provides regular dental work for local students. But, there was still plenty of demand for Tooth Taxi services, focusing on students with pain and abscessed teeth. Becca Jordan, an ODS/Moda Health employee and experienced dental assistant was an immense help this week while our staff assistant Catherine was out.

It is a treat to park next to the club gardens and see what vegetables are ready for harvesting (black tomatoes this year!) Salem Boys & Girls Club, health and dental services director, Jodi Loper, provided lunches for the Tooth Taxi staff. We thoroughly enjoyed the assortment of choices on the local lunch menu, including some produce from Jodi's own garden.  Thank you Jodi!  Jodi also held the 3rd annual chalk art contest about oral health; kids provided colorful and educational drawings about oral hygiene and healthy choices.

This club has a serious cycling program, a great way to introduce the kids to cycling, fresh air and healthy exercise.  They have weekly rides and a very committed following.  Pedal on!
